This little nook used to be part of a poorly designed 45 degree angled closet in this client's kitchen. And now look at her shine! Floating shelves help to visually lighten the corner space, but also provide a space for styling. And this lovely green hue (Basil SW 6194), from Sherwin-Williams is the perfect backdrop.

Each year, color experts from top paint companies and design organizations unveil their Color of the Year—a hue that reflects the cultural mood, emerging trends, and evolving aesthetic preferences for the year ahead. Last year, we saw a shift in tone as we moved into saturated colors.

Overall, we're seeing a change as clients want to incorporate more of their own individuality and personal expression, and hence a shift toward more color-infused spaces.

Thrilled to release a "before and after" of a gorgeous kitchen renovation, new on the Portfolio! Our clients started with a kitchen that was dark, cramped, poorly laid out, and had very inefficient storage.

When we started our design conversation, our client told us that she always wanted to open the space between the kitchen and dining room to allow for a more cohesive flow, as well as additional seating. She had always disliked the fact that their kitchen and dining room were very separate from each other, especially during holidays when they entertained friends and family.

We didnt' completely eliminate the wall because of structural constraints, but we did design a pass-through window between these two spaces so that during large family gatherings, it would feel more unified. This area includes a new countertop seating area to the pass-through window for a quick cup of coffee in the morning, and more seamless entertaining during large holiday meals.

Now, our clients adore entertaining and cooking their day-to-day meals in their new kitchen!

I found @barlogastudios at Highpoint Market two years ago, and. Have loved using their artwork ever since! They have a unique range of ways to hang their beautiful pieces (these are printed on handmade Nepalese paper) on a series of steel bars and wood or leather straps, and it makes it really easy to change up your pieces throughput the seasons!

Here in the vestibule area of @jenniferjanewayhome , we swapped out our summer succulents with a woodland scene. See how easy it is?

🔥Hot take: the chaise lounge is underrated and not used nearly enough. For those of you that love a good reading nook, you can get that in a few different ways - a comfy chair with an ottoman, a recliner, but in my opinion, a chaise is basically ✨inviting✨ you to stretch out and lounge, and live your best rainy-day-reading days in style and comfort.

(Oh, and don't forget a nearby floor lamp for proper lighting, and an end table to set that book to the side when you decide it's time for a nap. You're welcome. 😉 )

We are in the process of finishing the basement in our home. We’re planning for a boys gaming lounge, a kitchen, an office/guestroom, a bathroom (with a really cool shower), and some finished storage. Take a look to see how the framing is coming along with me and @deshongdesignremodeling !
